Turkey Sliders

Image
Recently, I've developed a love for turkey sliders.  Partly because it is one of the few no fuss foods I can get my picky six year old to eat.  But also, because it's so good and these turn out so juicy each time I've made them.  Check out below to see how I make them! Ingredients: 2 lbs of Ground Turkey 2 Tbsp Barbecue Sauce 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 Egg 1/4 Cup of Panko breadcrumbs 2 Tbsp Butter Slider Buns Lettuce & Cheese (or whatever else you would like to dress your slider, I actually used a couple of spinach leaves and cheese) Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.  While it's heating, you can start putting the turkey patties together. Mix all the ingredients together.  Break off golf ball sized portions and roll them between your hands to form a ball.  Then flatten the ball slightly to form the slider patty. I line the patties in glass pans while preparing them all for the skillet.

Computer Nook Renovation

Image
Today, I'm so excited to share our computer nook renovation project! This is a project we actually finished a few months ago, but it has taken me some time to gather all of the pictures and compose this post.  I wanted to be sure to give appropriate details to show how we went from the picture on the left to the picture on the right. When we initially furnished our computer nook, we used a desk we had in our old place.  It was a great, little secretary style desk that was compact and could be closed up when not in use.  Above it, we made two floating shelves. From a visual perspective, it didn’t look neat. It bothered us that the cords were exposed and hanging all over the place. We had asked our builder to put the outlets and connections on the wall behind where the desk was to be positioned but that request was overlooked.  Last year, that desk broke.  The bottom completely gave out and the paper and other items stored on that shelf were exposed, falling out from under t

Smothered Okra & Shrimp

The end of February and March were rough for us.  Two out of the four of us got the flu, one of us had a respiratory infection, one had a viral infection and a bought with an allergy flare up.  We've spent the last few weeks trying to get well.  And, in the midst of all that, Mr. C and I painted our bedroom.  We are still working on remodeling our room, and we will share that with you later. Today, I'm sharing a recipe I created for smothered okra and shrimp.  This one includes tomatoes, which I know some do not.  My dad always talks about the smothered okra my grandmother used to make.  I don't have her recipe for it unfortunately.  So I started experimenting until I found something we both liked.  My mom makes smothered okra also, but her recipe doesn't include tomatoes and sausage in lieu of shrimp.  There are so many different ways you can make this dish, this is just my version of it. Ingredients: 1/3 container of chopped seasoning blend (contains onions,

Nursery Project: DIY Bow Holder

Image
Today, I'm going to show you one of the projects I completed for our daughter's nursery.  I'll share a few more nursery projects with you later.  This one is a bow holder I made for the nursery. Honestly, I took a gamble on the Little Miss.  When we found out she was a girl and we started putting together the nursery.  I just had a feeling she would have lots of hair and would need something to hold all of her bows.  The Little Mister was born with a lot of hair, and the same was true for Mr. C and I when we were babies.  How could she not have a head full of hair?  So I took a risk and made this bow hanger for her closet door before she was born.  This was one of those projects I knew I would eventually add to the blog. I used an unfinished wooden plaque, an unfinished chipboard letter (slightly smaller than the plaque), four strips of ribbon (cut a yard long each), two six inch long pieces of ribbon, two paint colors, a strip of Velcro, a hot glue gun and a stapl
