Mason Jar Door Hanger

Image
Here is another project I completed months ago, but never posted.  When we first moved here, I had a wreath on the door for every occasion.  I had kind of grown a little tired of my standard wreaths.  So, I had been looking for other options.  While walking through the store, looking for inspiration, I picked up a large black wooden mason jar door hanger and some burlap and lace ribbon.  I thought it could go around the neck of the mason jar.   The supplies purchased from Michael's When I got home with all my supplies, I thought of making a letter "C" using my Cricut.  The "C" was made in Design Space using the "Another Day in Paradise" font I found on Dafont.com.  I sized it to fit the body of the mason jar, leaving the lid area blank so ribbon could be tied around the "neck" of the jar.  I used white permanent 651 vinyl I already had on hand, and cut the letter with my Cricut Explore Air 2 machine.  Then, I weeded out the ...

Patriotic Wreath

Image
Independence Day is fast approaching, it is time to make a patriotic wreath in honor of the day.  This wreath can also be used for Memorial Day.  It is simply made with ribbon, a wreath form and foam stars. For this project, you will need a Styrofoam wreath, red, white and blue ribbon and some white foam stars.  The pack I purchased happened to have red, white and blue stars in it. Start by pinning the white ribbon at the back with stick pins to hold it in place.  Then, wrap the white ribbon around three quarters of the way, skipping enough space in between to fit the red ribbon. Then do the same with the red ribbon, leaving the white ribbon peeking out in between the red.  Secure the end with stick pins. Wrap the last third of the wreath with the blue ribbon.  This time overlap the ribbon, not leaving any space showing through.  Secure the end with pins. Flip the wreath over so that the pins are at the back.  Plac...

Coffee Filter Wreath

Image
While looking for a Spring wreath idea, I came across this lovely coffee filter rose wreath on Pinterest. This idea originated from the Lovely Crafty Home blog . It seemed as if it was easy enough to do.  Paint the coffee filters with desired colors for your "flowers". Lay them flat to dry.  I did not mind if some of the colors bled through, it seemed more like the natural variations that occurred in real flowers. Then, gather them up into groups of three filters, fold into quarters. I loved seeing this sea of coffee filters once the folding was complete. Then I cut out the the bottoms, to form the smaller circles in the rings.  I cut a slit in the rings.  The smaller circles were opened, separated and twisted at the center.  I placed the three smaller circles from each bunch at one end of the long strip of masking tape.  Then the three rings from each bunch were gathered and lined along the strip of masking tape. The...

Easter Wreath

Image
For this project, you will need a Styrofoam wreath, some green shaggy yarn, some wide ribbon, a pack of tiny plastic eggs, scissors and a glue gun.    First, wrap the yarn around the wreath form once, tie a knot to secure it. Then continue to wrap the yarn around the wreath, tucking in any left over pieces from the end you tied. You want to conceal it behind the yarn. Wrap the entire wreath with the yarn and tie a knot to secure the end in place also.   Once this is done, you are ready to add the eggs.  The yarn should give the illusion of grass, hence the purpose of getting the shaggy yarn. Glue the eggs in place, leaving a space at the top to tie a ribbon for hanging the wreath and a space at the bottom for a bow. Add a bow at the bottom of the wreath. Now your wreath is ready to be hung on a door.
